Somebody is going to pull off the unimaginable upset eventually: #16 seed beats #1 seed. The questions are 1. "Will it happen in our lifetime?" and 2. "Who has big balls and witts to actually pick the right game?" Answers: 1. Yes, 2. Me
If in fact the Big East is the best conference in the country, and Louisville is in fact the best team in the tournament, then I won't waste my time with evaluating the potential play-in teams, Alabama State and Morehead State. If either of those teams beats Louisville, the Cardinals should be banned from the NCAA tournament for 16 years. 1 down, three to go.
Chattanooga - Matched up against UCONN in the first round, the Moc's aren't looking strong for this upset bid. The Moc's have a 7-1 center to match up with Thabeet, who is 7-3. The Moc's website says Jeremy Saffore has "Loads of potential in the post...true center whose game will develop as he gets stronger." Last year he averaged 1.5 points per game, so unless he was juicing with A-Rod, the Moc's will be mocked when they are losing by 30 after the first half. Give them some credit, they only lost to Memphis by 12, and they showed App State in OT they don't f**k around.
Radford - Matched up with the Tarheels in the first round, the Highlanders will need divine intervention to upset the Heels. I think Radford can win if they get it to OT, where they have a .666 winning percentage this season (2-1). The problem is regulation is about 40 minutes too long for the Highlanders to bring the Heels to bonus basketball. RU doesn't even have player bio's on their athletics web site for the basketball team, which is enough for me to eliminate them unless UNC's players are declared academically ineligible and forfeit the game.
East Tennessee State - The Buccaneers drew Pittsburgh in the first round, and are my pick to beat down the Panthers. They have been to the tournament 7 times and I think that mascot is a playmaker with those two chicks. Everyone keeps saying if DeJuan Blair gets in foul trouble, Pitt will lose. Let him play the whole game, the Buc's are going to shock the world. This is what the committee gets for putting three Big East teams at #1, one overseeded team, one ridiculous upset, and 1,152 undergraduate students setting fires and drinking Jack in Johnson City, TN. GO BUCS, TRUE BLUE 4LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
