The Yankees and Red Sox continue "the rivalry" tonight at Fenway. The Red Sox took the first 5 games in the season series this year, so the Yanks are looking for some respect.
I'm going to honest here, the Yankees are in 1st place, but until they prove they can beat the Red Sox, I think Boston has the better team right now. Lets break it down.
Coaching: Terry gets the nod here, a couple of World Series rings, and Girardi's best job was making the Marlins respectable - so far. Edge: Sox
Pitching: Both teams have had two starting pitching failures: Dice K and Chien-Ming Wang. Both teams also have stoppers: Beckett and CC. The rest is details. Edge: EVEN
Offense: With David Ortiz struggling, it really hurts the Sox line-up, even with Youk and Jason Bay. With A-Rod back and Big Tex heating up to provide the power, and Jeter and Damon doin work at the top of the line-up, this is why they are called the Bronx Bombers. Edge: Yankees
Bullpen: The Yankees are still trying to figure out how to build a bridge between starting pitching and Mariano, and although construction progress is getting better with Phil Hughes, its an early project. Edge: Sox
Defense: I think the Yankees had everything rolling during the 18 game errorless streak, and despite slipping up lately, I think overall the Yankees with Big Tex are looking strong. Pedroia is a little bitch, Tex is the difference maker. Edge: Yankees
The Picks: Tonight's game is the toss up with AJ vs Beckett, I'm going with the Yankees tonight since we lost 5 games in a row to these chumps. Tomorrow, Yankees get shelled with Wang pitching. Thursday, Yankees win with Big CC on the mound. Series: Yankees, 2-1
