UNC, my pick to win the CWS, crushed East Carolina today 9-3, putting them in the big dance for the 4th straight year, a feat accomplished for the first time ever by an ACC team.
You can bet your ass there is going to be some heavy drinking going on tonight on Franklin Street in North Carolina. Side note: the Tarheels became the first ACC school to reach the Final Four, a bowl game and the CWS in the same year. I wonder how many schools have won the Basketball National Championship and the CWS in the same year? After they win in Omaha maybe that will be a "Did You Know?" on Sportscenter. Carolina's football team has been getting better since Butch Davis arrived, but I think Head Baseball Coach Mike Fox would rather compete with Roy Williams in a popularity contest in Chapel Hill. He will increase his votes with a few more wins in Omaha.
