New York Dominates Lax National Championships

Cortland quickly put an end to any out of state threats messing up the NY College Lacrosse National Championship trifecta by defeating Gettysburg to win the Division III National Championship. Next up was Le Moyne vs C.W. Post, where C.W. Post emerged victorious in the Division II Championship. Syracuse capped off NY dominance by defeating Cornell to capture the DI crown.

I am pretty impressed I figured this out on my own, I feel like it should be a "Did You Know?" on Sportscenter. Sure it doesn't take a genius to look at the state a college or university is from, but I feel like my awareness of all three divisions would score a 99 on any sports video game.

Cornell vs Syracuse = All New York National Championship

Cornell (13-3) and Syracuse (15-2) will square off in the Division I National Championship tomorrow at 1pm in Foxborough, Mass. I'm going to make a quick pick here and say Syracuse takes the Title, anyone who hands beat downs to Maryland and Duke back to back is title worthy in my book.

Sidenote, with the possibility of CW Post and Cortland picking up National Titles of their own in D2 and D3 land today, it could end up being 3 National Titles for New York and a sweep of Men's Lacrosse across the board for the New York school's. Not too bad.

Correction: DII guarantees a NY School victory, I didn't realize Le Moyne, who is playing CW Post was in Syracuse, NY. Cortland is the sole factor in the NY trifecta.

Lady Terps Drop Heartbreaker in NCAA Semi-Finals

The Lady Terps fell just short of advancing to the NCAA Championship game after losing 8-7 to the UNC Tarheels. The Lady Terps had previously won 21 games in a row and were undefeated going into this game. When your 21-0 and get a #2 seed in the NCAA Tournament you know the field is loaded with talent.

The last time the Terps won a National Championship was 2001, which was there 7th in a row at the time. They are like the Yankees in that they are expected to win the Title every year, and anything less is a disappointment. So what, they are in a title slump, a lot of schools never win a single National Championship, let alone 7 straight in one sport. They will bounce back soon enough.
